Talk about collaboration! The Pleasants County Senior Citizens Center donated their old van to the Boys and Girls Club of Pleasants County. MOVTI's automotive program was able to get it up and running again after it had sat for several years. They replaced the fuel pump, repaired wiring, replaced bulbs, serviced it and then our graphic design program added some vinyl decals to personalize it! The Boys and Girls Club will now be able to pick students up from St. Marys Elementary and drive them to the club rather than having them walk in inclement weather.

The air was electric Friday, March 11th at the MOVTI. The highly anticipated Esports event had finally arrived. Twenty contestants representing all four counties that the MOVTI serves battled for the top spot of champion in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate game. Which character and which battlefield would be used to compete and which would prevail? One by one competitors fell until finally, there were only two champions remaining. Both attend Mr. Lopez’s Information Systems program. Waylon Moore, a senior, and Caleb Hudson, a junior, attend Saint Marys High School and both are competitors in MOVTI Esports team. Both also attend Mr. Lopez’s information Systems program at MOVTI. Waylon chose Bowser to guide his path to a championship while Caleb chose Jiggly Puff. Talk about David versus Goliath, the second lightest character versus the heaviest! The match was set for a best of 5 games to win the tournament. Waylon won the first match and then Caleb won the next two. Waylon came back to tie the series by winning the fourth game. The fifth game would determine the winner and would be crowned champion of the Smash tournament. It was a hard-fought struggle, both champions gave it their all until finally, Bowser (Waylon) won with a forward smash that finished Jiggly Puff (Caleb) where he slept. There was no shame in the loss because it was a very close match that went down to the last stock. Each champion suffered heavy damage, but Bowser survived as Jiggly Puff met his demise. Congratulations to both opponents for demonstrating high-quality play and great sportsmanship!
