These programs give students hands-on training and teach students real-world skills. Plus, they can earn industry-recognized credentials and get work-based learning experiences. It's a great way for students to check out different careers and get some valuable experience while still in high school!
Therapeutic Services and Emergency Services students participated in a classroom debate about topics related to medical professions, such as legalization of euthanasia. Mrs. Redin, embedded English instructor, facilitated the debate and provided students topics to research and prepare for the event.

Automotive and Diesel students toured HINO Motors truck manufacturing plant in Mineral wells today
Project Lead The Way students have been designing air pod holders that require a hinge lid or door. Brady Rinard went difficult and modeled this truck with a tailgate that opens and shuts! The newer air pod case will fit perfectly in the bed of this truck! Good job Brady, excited to see the other students prototypes soon.
At our Career Day event yesterday, Rachael Dukas, service supervisor of Boyd Cat- Parkersburg branch, presented a donation check to Alex Mossor. This generous donation will greatly benefit Mr. Mossor's diesel program and his students. We are grateful for the generous support provided by Boyd Cat and we appreciate your continued support of our technical school!

Law & Public Safety students visited the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum to learn about the history of the treatment of mental illness.
Our last instructor to be in the spotlight is...Christopher McGrew, our computer systems instructor! I guess he couldn't code his way out of this!
Last week, Laura Hacker, Natalie Bartrug, Baylee Dilling, Shelby Thomas, and their instructor, Ashley Barnhart, from the Health Occupations program attended the HOSA Fall Leadership Conference in Charleston. During the conference, they listened to Sam Demma, author of the book "Empty Your Backpack," as the keynote speaker. Later, they split into workshops for the afternoon. During some downtime, they took the opportunity to try out the "Almost Heaven" swing located across from the state capitol in Charleston. The swings are located at various popular tourist spots around the state and are made by the Nicholas County Career and Technical Center's students.
Congratulations to Evony Westbrook (RC), a graphic design student, for passing her Adobe Illustrator certification test. This is a big accomplishment that demonstrates her skill and knowledge in the field. It's great to see that Career and Technical Education students have opportunities to take industry certification tests and prove their abilities.

Two more Valley Visions students earned their Adobe Certified Professional certification in Graphic Design and Illustration using Adobe Illustration. Gavin Kildow (SM) and Noah Hubbard (SM) are now certified!
