Tour season continues! Last Friday, our AM students hosted Valley High School.
#CTEFunFact: Students who complete a blended academic–career curriculum are more likely to pursue postsecondary education, have a higher GPA in college and are less likely to drop out of college in the first year. Our welders have had a busy week!
Eddie Probst, TCHS Senior and second year MOVTI student, earned this FOURTH certification, SMAW 7018 with Backing Strip and GMAW (Mig).
Jaidon Lusk, RCHS Senior and second year MOVTI student, earned his second certification, SMAW 7018 with Backing Strip.
Clinton Conrad, TCHS Senior and second year MOVTI student, earned his second certification, Tig Root 7018 Fill & Cap.
Steven Judge, TCHS Senior and second year MOVTI student, earned his second certification, SMAW 7018 with Backing Strip.

You haven't heard from our welders in a couple days!! They continue to earn certifications!
Logan Hilkey, a RCHS Senior and 2 year MOVTI student, passes his GMAW "Mig" Welding Certification. He is now certified in Gas Metal Arc Welding! Logan is pictured with Mr. Sims, MOVTI Welding Instructor.


Computer Systems Repair student, Lane Kelley (RCHS), showed initiative and ingenuity by replacing a severely cracked screen on an Apple iPad Mini 2. Performing this task was not an easy one, but through his perseverance, Lane was successful and the iPad is now fully functional. Great job!

English teacher, Janelle West, had her students come up with program themed Valentine’s Day cards as part of their embedded English credit.





Last week Law and Public Safety students visited Washington State Community College. Criminal Justice Professor Stephanie Harlow had hands on activities during our tour of the program including lifting a fingerprint and determining blood type. College Pathway Advisor Chey Parsons then led students us on a tour of the college. Students also visited Marietta Police Department where Chief Nedeff gave students a tour of the facility.

WV National Guard members, Sergeant George Bennett and Sgt Dustin Ware, taught Mr. Clark's Law and Public Safety students about pepper spray and allowed kids to practice using INERT pepper spray.




Building Maintenance Operations students learned how to lay block today. This is an important skill because when it comes to constructing buildings, it’s crucial to have a sturdy groundwork. After all, The complete weight of the building is going to rely on its foundation.

Can we fix it?? Yes we can!!
When our laminator stopped working, CEM Tech students were able to troubleshoot and repair the electrical issue with the laminator which saved the school from having to buy a replacement.

Adobe Certified! Graphic Design student, Shawn Hilvers, passed his Adobe Certified Associate test in Adobe Illustrator. Shawn is a junior at Ritchie County High School. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Trevor Cowan, second year Information Systems senior from RCHS, for obtaining his TestOut Server Pro: Installation and Management Certification!

UTI is a leading provider of training for students preparing for careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle, marine, CNC machining and welding technicians.


MOVTI Announces Students of the Quarter for the 2nd Quarter!
Abby Boley – Abby is a Senior from St. Mary’s High School. Abby is in her second year at the MOVTI and is currently enrolled in the Building Maintenance & Operations program. She completed the Carpentry program last year and is a Concentrator in the MOVTI’s Drafting program. Abby has perfect attendance for the 2021-22 school year and only missed one day of school during the 2020-21 school year! Mr. Becker, her Carpentry/Building Maintenance Instructor states that she completes all assignments, works well with others, stays on task, is a great problem solver and has a tremendous work ethic. Abby plans to seek employment after graduation.
Zyan Hardbarger – Zyan is a Junior from Ritchie County High School. Zyan is in his first year of the Diesel Technologies Program at the MOVTI. Mr. Mossor, the Diesel Instructor, states that Zyan has shown great leadership skills. He is the first to participate in class discussion, whether it be in the Diesel classroom or with the Embedded Math class. Zyan plans on pursuing a career in the automotive industry. He would like to someday open his own shop.
Luke Powell – Luke is a Junior from St. Mary’s High School. Luke is enrolled in the Carpentry Program at the MOVTI. Luke is a great student at his home high school as well as at the MOVTI. Mr. Becker, Carpentry Instructor says that he is always on task in the Carpentry Program. Luke works well with others and helps other students. He has great attendance, good leadership skills, and is a problem solver. Luke also has great carpentry skills! Luke’s post-secondary goals include starting a successful business and to be able to invest his earnings in stocks.
Anondae Hesson – Anondae is a Senior from St. Mary’s High School. She is enrolled in the Advanced Medical Program at the MOVTI. Mrs. Renner, the Advanced Medical Instructor, states that Anondea has good attendance, is respectful, and gets along well with her classmates. She completes all assignments and participates in lectures and lab activities. Anondae maintains good academic standing while participating in extracurricular activities and taking early college classes. She is a pleasure to have in class. Anondae plans to attend West Liberty University, and major in Physician Assistant studies. She plans to graduate and become a Physician’s Assistant.
